Garvan Woodland Gardens |
Recently opened in Hot Springs is Garvan
Woodland Gardens, Arkansas’
first botanical garden. Surrounded by 4 1/2
miles of pristine
shoreline and featuring 210 acres of wooded
forest, Garvan Woodland
Gardens features the nation’s largest
Japanese style rock and stream
garden with two reflecting pools, three
cascades, two waterfalls, and
an impressive pond designed by David Slawson.
The garden also displays
an architecturally significant pavilion
designed by E. Fay Jones and
Maurice Jennings, along with a symphony of
woodland flowers and plants.
The new Anthony
Chapel opened its doors in May 2006
and is well on its way to become one of
Arkansas' premiere wedding locations. This
striking, new architectural landmark with
its soaring 57' ceiling, intricately laid
rock work, and massive
floor-to-ceiling windows will entice
engaged couples of all ages to consider
the Gardens for their "I do's."
There are numerous packages available with
varying prices that will fit most any
budget. Our on-site wedding supervisor,
Suzie Dodson Burch, is available to answer
questions, offer suggestions, and
eliminate a little of the stress on your
special day.
Donated by Verna C. Garvan to the
University of Arkansas, the garden
provides a laboratory for students and
gardeners, while offering
visitors an entertaining, educational and
inspirational experience.
